![]() “O Mary, you shine continuously along our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. “We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the Cross were near to the pain of Jesus, keeping your faith firm. “You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this moment of trial. “Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us, He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and took up our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. “We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.” The Pope's prayer was sent out to the Dominican Laity as a call to prayer by Father Carlos Quijano, O.P. He is the Provincial Promoter for the Dominican Laity, Province of St. Joseph, the Eastern Province of the Lay Fraternity of St. Dominic in the USA. |

And you, my child, shall be
called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go
before the Lord to prepare his way, to give his people
knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins.

The Lay Dominican
The Lay Fraternities of St. Dominic was
founded with their own rule in 1285 AD, and was officially recognized by
the Church on the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas in 1286 AD.
Lay Dominicans "are accordingly distinguished both by
their own spirituality and by their service to God and neighbor in
the Church. As members of The Order, they participate in its
apostolic mission through prayer, study, community and preaching
(apostolate) according to
the state proper to the laity." (The Rule of the Lay Fraternity #4).
Lay Dominicans come from every background, joining the
Dominican charism to their state of life in the world. In this
unique Dominican Way, they live out their special vocation "to seek
the kingdom of God by engaging in temporal affairs and directing
them according to God's will." (Lumen Gentium 31)
The Rose Hawthorne Fraternity
The first meeting of the then Rose Hawthorne Pro-Chapter was at Hawthorne in 2003. The spiritual director at the time was Fr. J.M. Sullavan, OP. Today we are a full Fraternity in the Provence of St. Joseph.
